After some time of consideration I decided that a Sony NWZ-S765 is going to replace my broken mp3 player. One main aspect was that the player supports playlists which can be managed with audio software like Winamp so I could use my regular audio player.
The problem
Device manager does not discover Winamp Technical Support The free customizable Winamp media player that plays mp3 + other audio files, syncs your iPod, subscribes to Podcasts and more. Device manager does not discover - Winamp & Shoutcast Forums. Unless you have specific soundcard input settings, or want to talk on your stream, select 'Winamp' at the Input Device. As every soundcard is different and individual, we cannot give any tutorials for the Soundcard Input. Step 6.) Go back to the 'Output' tab in your DSP window. On my laptop managing playlists with Winamp worked as expected. Everything fine so far. But when I wanted to configure the player from the Winamp installation on my desktop PC it simply didn’t recognize the player and even updating Winamp changed nothing.
Run the Winamp and click Import from iTunes to import your iTunes music tract into Winamp Media Library. Connect your device with PC and you will see your device under the head Devices on the left hand side. Go to File and click Add media to library. Then click songs you want to add to iDevice and right click the mouse. What's new in iPod Plug-in for Winamp 3.10: new: iPhone/iTouch support disabled by default, because newer devices and iTunes versions caused Winamp to crash. IOS 4 or 3 wasn't supported anyway.
The solution
After I checked that the versions of Winamp on my laptop and PC were the same I had a look at the installed plug-ins. For whatever reason there were some plug-ins missing in the portable devices category on my PC although they belong to the default installation of the current release. So I simply copied the missing plug-ins from the Plugins subdirectory of Winamp’s installation directory from my laptop and finally everything worked fine.

- Extract the downloaded EXE-File, e.g. using 7-Zip
- Navigate into the extracted folder and open the Plugins directory
- Copy
pmp_p4s.dllto the Plugins directory of your Winamp installation - For other devices also
pmp_njb.dllorpmp_usb.dllcould be the required ones
