Install the App
I'd like to suggest that Filezilla store user data (such as configured FTP sites) in the Application Data directory. This has the following benefits: Follows Windows Logo Requirements LUA users (users running as non-admins) will have write access to this directory. The FileZilla is the most used FTP software in the world and is available in 48 languages. It was subjected to a lot of criticism in the past stating that it consisted of Trojan viruses, but the app is safe to use. Features of FileZilla 3.6.3. FileZilla can be used as a site manager as it can create and store a list of FTP servers.
- Press
Command+Space
and type Terminal and press enter/return key. - Run in Terminal app:
ruby -e '$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)' < /dev/null 2> /dev/null ; brew install caskroom/cask/brew-cask 2> /dev/null
and press enter/return key.
If the screen prompts you to enter a password, please enter your Mac's user password to continue. When you type the password, it won't be displayed on screen, but the system would accept it. So just type your password and press ENTER/RETURN key. Then wait for the command to finish. - Run:
brew cask install filezilla
- The Competition. Cyberduck is the best alternative to FileZilla. Honestly, it's just about as good as FileZilla, but they both have their own perks. Cyberduck doesn't support many of the advanced.
- FileZilla WebDAV. FileZilla supports different and most trusted protocols, including WebDAV. WebDAV is founded in 1996 and offers a framework to modify, create, edit, change, and move users’ documents on a server.
Done! You can now use FileZilla.
Similar Software for Mac
Filezilla is certainly a great multi-platform FTP client.
Filezilla App Store Download
To bypass Gatekeeper without disabling it, simply download Filezilla from the source (never from download.com or any other untrusted third party), uncompress the application, drag it to 'Applications', open your applications folder, then right-click Filezilla and choose 'Open'. Right-clicking a downloaded application and choosing 'Open' bypasses Gateleeper. Therefore, you need to make sure that you are getting the download from a trusted source.

Downloading it from most of the 'download' websites will have packaged it with an installer and possibly crapware or malware that you did not intend.
By the way, if you ever need a full-featured FTP client that is a polished Mac application, I highly recommend 'Transmit':
